Jack Antonoff was born in March of 1984. At the young age of eight he first picked up his fathers Martin D-35, and has not put it down since. In high school Jack studied classical guitar briefly at Julliard School of Music and privately for five years.
Currently the lead guitarist for Steel Train, the band has released two EP's on Drive Thru/Geffen records and has plans for a full length due out May of 2004. The full-length record (recorded in Coatati, CA at Prairie Sun in October/November of 2003) was produced by legendary producer Stephen Barncard (CSNY, The Grateful Dead, Joe Cocker, etc.) Among the great musicians Jack has played with include David Grisman and Gene Parsons.
Currently on a three month US tour, Jack and Steel Train have toured the UK, Europe, and the US headlining and opening for acts such as Robert Randoph and the Family Band, Garaj Mahal, Something Corporate, Idlewild, The Crystal Method etc. Look out for Steel Train's full-length record in May.
