Originally from Queens, New York, Phil Buckman arrived in Los Angeles (by way of Baltimore, MD and Boston, MA) as a teenager and quickly made a name for himself in the L.A. music scene as the bassist for the dynamic Tribal Sex Cult. Upon the demise of T.S.C., Phil kept busy with a wide variety of projects including Fine (Flip Records), Onesidezero (Maverick), and The Imposters (Interscope) as well as contributing to various film and TV soundtracks.
Phil also enjoys a successful acting and voiceover career with series regular roles on such television shows as City of Angels (CBS), Bob Patterson (ABC), and most recently in his role as art teacher, "Henry Preston", on the FOX hit, Boston Public. Phil is also currently the voice of all TV and radio commercials for the Carl's Jr./Hardee's restaurant chain.
Phil joined Helicopter Helicopter upon their arrival in Los Angeles in the spring of 2004 in time to contribute to the writing of the follow up to "Wild Dogs with X-Ray Eyes." He is currently in the studio with guitarists/vocalists Julie Chadwick, Chris Zerby, and drummer David Foy. The band is signed to Initial Records (Boy Sets Fire, The Reputation, Elliot, Criteria).
Phil endorses and plays Warwick basses, Ashdown amps, Elixir strings, and In Tune guitar picks exclusively.
