Taylor Guitar

Guitarist, musician, and worshipper.  Those who know the musical styling of Jay Calder have described his playing as, "awe-inspiring", "impressive", and "heart-driven".  Those who know Jay Calder may say, "His music reveals his heart and his passion."  The guitar has been a passion for Jay Calder for most of his life.  He has always held a deep appreciation for artists such as Phil Keaggy and Bruce Cockburn.  After receiving his bachelor of Theology degree from Emmanuel Bible College, Jay led various worship bands while pasturing in Kitchener and Lindsay, Ontario.  He currently resides in Plattsville (near Kitchener), Ontario; with is wife Sandy and his children, Stephanie, Jennifer, Melissa, and Jesse.  A few years ago, Jay started listening to musicians such as Don Ross, the late Michael Hedges, and other finger-style guitar players.  Alternate tunings provided Jay with a new creative pallet for his own compositions and he began performing solo guitar in a variety of venues.  "Breakfast With Barnabas" is Jay's first solo guitar recording.  Within a few months of the CD's release, "Breakfast With Barnabas" was nominated for Instrumental Album of the Year at the 2004 Vibe Awards.

"Breakfast With Barnabas", nominated Instrumental Album of the Year", 2004/Canadian VIBE Awards

Cockburn, Keaggy, Hedges, Yes, Genesis, Rush

Live Bruce Cockburn CD from 1990.  Fergus Marsh is incredible on the midi-stick.

"Elixir® Strings are, quite simply, the best.  They have been my string of choice for years.  The longevity is an obvious plus.  The consistency of tome is remarkable and the feel.  I prefer the original Polyweb's because I really like the way they feel and they do provide reduced string noise.  On my fingerstyle CD, 'Breakfast With Barnabas', I used three guitars and each one was loaded with Elixir® Strings-really a no-brainer."
