"I don't know if these stories are true...but they happened to me."

Bob Cheevers has earned a place in the landscape now called Americana Music having charted Top 20 in that genre with his last two CDs. Bob grew up in Memphis and got a soul full of music not only from the icons of his youth such as Elvis, Jerry Lee and Johnny Cash but also from his Mother, who was a radio star during the Great Depression performing with the Big Bands of that era. A hundred year old photo of his Grandmother graces the cover of his "Gettysburg To Graceland" CD. From an early age, Bob's creative feet were firmly planted in Mississippi Delta mud, and his songs began to feature characters whose lives reflected the life style along the rivers of the South over the past hundred years.

After starting his first band during college, Bob and his musical direction migrated west following a dream that took him from the pop field in Hollywood to country and roots music in Nashville with stops in-between to gather the tools and trophies of his career. Among his statues and certificates of accomplishment is an Emmy for the song "Big City Gambler" which was voted Best Musical Composition of 1986 by NARAS. Several decades as a writer have seen over a thousand songs born.

Using his organizational skills in the late 1980's,The Bob Cheevers Sacramento Songwriter Showcase ran for two years featuring high profile regional and national hit writers and served as Bob's springboard to Nashville.  After moving to Nashville and in addition to pursuing his own musical career, Bob organized and produced a yearly benefit series of shows at The Bluebird Cafe for Nashville's Alive Hospice Organization featuring Nashville's most famous writers, artists and performers. Now in its ninth year, it's still The Bluebird's most popular series. As a producer, publisher, singer, songwriter and seasoned performer, Bob has found his own voice spinning roots, blues-flavored tales of the Delta in a conversational language of the heart.

1-GETTYSBURG TO GRACELAND  (Back 9 Records) A musical journey spanning the last hundred years passing thru the cradle of the Confederacy ending up at the King’s gate. This Gavin Americana top 20 CD was among the CDs from which were chosen the Grammy nominees for Best Contemporary Folk CD of 1998.

2-THE STORIES I WRITE  (Hayden’s Ferry Records) I don’t know if these
stories are true, but they happened to me.  Spending 30 weeks on the
Gavin Americana chart, it climbed to number 14.

3-WE ARE ALL NAKED  (Inbred Records) Originally conceived as a
guitar/vocal record for the UK fans, this group of songs features “the
naked truth” about life and love around the turn of the century. Its
the most personal and honest of my CDs to date. (UK release only
available at CDX UK and cheeversongs.com)

4-SNAPSHOTS  (Inbred Records) Features 3 songs from each of the last 4
CDs plus two unreleased tracks.

5-ONE MAN ONE MARTIN  (Inbred Records) A dozen songs recorded with just
my voice and my old black Martin guitar. After all...I am a
“singer/songwriter”.

6-TEXAS TO TENNESSEE  (Back 9 Records) February ‘06 release featuring
mostly songs with characters in them from the great states of Texas and
Tennessee along with songs whose subject matter I’m familiar with.

CHEEVERSONGS ARCHIVE SERIES   An 8-CD Special Edition Series (available
only by special order from bobcheevers.com) compiled from master
recordings over the last 20 years, each CD has songs that follow the
title theme. Finding the common denominators that hold each CD together
was like assembling a poetic puzzel...a musical Rubick’s Cube.

MY SOUTHERN HEART ...This double CD set contains Civil War/Southern
songs with characters in them whose lives were touched by The War or
who knew the conflicts and joys of living in The South.

CAST OF CHARACTERS...Profiles the imaginary lives of make-beleive
characters. Its often confusing where my life leaves off and the lives
of my characters begin.

MAKING UP TRUE STORIES...Chaseing the tail of my muse, the lines
continue to blur between the way the world looks thru my eyes and these
tales I spin into yarns that often become songs.

HARVEST TIME...Feelings of hope, doubt, beleif, longing and faith fill
the hearts of this group. These songs harvest some secrets ploughed
under by the winds of change and the sands of time...Harvest Time.

12 SONGS YOU’LL NEVER HEAR ON  RADIO...Songs dealing with
crossdressers, barnyard romance, nut cases on rooftops with rifles,
ex-wives, wild pygmies in the jungle and Tammy Faye Baker.

REGARDS TO NASHVILLE...Stuck in the middle of being too country for LA
and not country enough for Nashville, these are some of my favorites
from the period when all that seemed to matter.

THE REAL THING...Absolutely true love stories with honest feelings
about real people....love in the early stages when the comittment was
strong and hearts seem perfectly in sinque...moments in time.

WHEN THE MUSIC ENDS...If “The Real Thing” is the Ying, then these songs
are the Yang. As opposed to representing the powerful locomotive of
feelings that pull a love affair along, these are musical tributes to
the caboose...the end of love affiars.
