Le Ann Etheridge has long been recognized in Nashville circles as a talented singer and bassist, but she is also fast becoming known as one of Nashville’s freshest and most original songwriting voices. A long-time member of Nanci Griffiths’ Blue Moon Orchestra, she sings harmony, plays bass and rhythm guitar and sometimes opens the show. Nanci’s last five projects have featured Le Ann’s vocal and guitar talents, but on Nanci’s new album Hearts in Mind, her songwriting talents are also in evidence on two songs: "Back When Ted Loved Sylvia" and "Before", a co-write with Nanci.
In 2001, Le Ann released her first album “Half A World Away” (Currituck Sound Music) to critical acclaim. Produced by renowned drummer-percussionist Pat McInerney and venerated musician and singer-songwriter Clive Gregson, it garnered attention on both sides of the Atlantic. An engaging collection of vivid, well-written song-scapes, it entertains and engages you while exploring many musical moods ranging from folk to country to pop.
Le Ann recently completed a new album of twelve original songs with Clive Gregson taking production duties. “Farmer’s Daughter” (Currituck Sound Music) presents further evidence of Le Ann’s writing and performing skills, also supported by some of Nashville’s finest musicians. The album is sure to add to Le Ann’s growing reputation and increase her fan base.
Since moving to Nashville, Le Ann has worked with Vassar Clements, David Olney, Allison Moorer, Pat Alger, Ian Gomm, Richard Dobson, Charly McClain, Michael Johnson, and Mark Germino. It’s now time for her to take center stage and the new album “Farmer’s Daughter” will no doubt help establish that as her rightful place.
