Jay Johnson is an award winning singer/songwriter who is being recognized not only for his songwriting skills but for his powerful vocal performances as well. Among his most recent accolades, he was selected as a Regional Finalist in the 2004 Sony/USA Network Nashville Star TV Show and currently has 2 of his songs being considered for placement in an upcoming film. The band is also currently in the finals of the Shiner Bock Rising Star competition.
This 18-yr veteran performer has shared the stage with such talent as Pat Green, Jackson Browne, Willie Nelson, Charlie Robison, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Steven Fromholtz, Gary P. Nunn and, countless others. Jay’s style of writing is as diverse and all encompassing as the writer himself and his writing savvy has been compared to James Taylor, Jackson Browne & Townes Van Zandt. The new CD, “Royal Blue Moon”, is slated for a September ’04 release and is the first album with his full band, who are all phenomenal artists in their own right.
