Chuck McCabe started his musical life as a banjo picker in a bluegrass band... they played in Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Saloon, and toured Vietnam for the USO.
He picked up the guitar, and played it from Sunset Strip to Cape Cod, and everywhere in between: Vail, Steamboat... coffee houses, tourist traps, gin mills, Ramada's and Holiday Inns. He has survived three major label deals, recording his music in L.A. and Nashville for Capitol, ABC, and GRT. He was a staff writer for ABC.
Winner of the 2001 Woody Guthrie songwriting competition, Chuck has played folk festivals in Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, Oregon, and California.
Somebody once described his musical style as "Somewhere between Roger Miller and Hoagy Carmichael."
After watching Chuck perform, Erik Darling, of the legendary Weavers and Rooftop Singers said: "Onstage, he appears taller."

"I once played 44 one-hour shows in a month, and decided after the first week to leave the Elixir® Strings with Nanoweb® Coating on, just to see how far they'd make it. They didn't break, and never got to that dull-thud stage most strings would have reached after a couple of days. They looked a little ragged, but the tonality was still there! Elixir® Strings sound and feel great…other strings don't sound right to me anymore."
