Randy Sharp has written, recorded, published, and produced his own music for over three decades.
Randy has written five #1 records for numerous Country artists including "Then What" by Clay Walker, and "Why Does it Have To Be (Wrong or Right)", by Restless Heart. Both songs have been spun over two million times to date. He has won BMI's "Millionaires award" (songs spun over a million times) on four different occasions. His songs have reached top forty over 20 times and have charted more than 40 times. He has written songs for everybody from Dolly Parton, Blood Sweat and Tears, to Ray Bird. Over 40 major artists have cut Randy's song. Artists like Reba McEntire, Dixie Chicks, Linda Ronstadt, Jerry Reed, Edgar Winter, Patti Page, Marty Robbins, Alabama, Tanya Tucker, and Emmy Lou Harris, just to name a few. In addition, his music can be heard on numerous movie soundtracks including "The Apostle", "Horse Whisperer", "Speechless", and "Follow That Bird".
Look for Randy's latest cut, "A Home", on the DIXIE CHICKS', "Home" and their "Dixie Chicks live" CDs. This song is especially important to Randy because it marks the first cover by a major act, written by him and his daughter Maia Sharp. Randy's work can also be heard on Maia's, 'Ark 21' release, "Hardly Glamour", her self titled CD "Maia Sharp", now out on 'Concord Records' and the upcoming, "Fine Upstanding Citizen".
Randy is a long time champion of Songwriters rights. He was President of the Board of Directors of The National Academy of Songwriters for three years. He currently serves on the board of the 'Songwriter's Guild Of America'.
