The first thing one notices about JOE WHYTE is his unprecedented vocal range. Nominated 3 years in a row for Best Male Solo Performer at NJ's Asbury Music Awards, Joe's voice has been called both "ethereal" and "haunting." Combining equal parts folk, pop, rock and Americana, Joe's songs are riddled with, "time tested melodies"(Time Out NY).
He recently finished his new album, "The Lower 48", which he released in June 2005. In addition, 2004 saw Joe showcase at the Millenium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA, Delaware's Dewey Beach Music Conference and NYC's MEANY Fest, as well as celebrating the 2nd year of his own monthly songwriter's night in Hoboken, NJ (Joe Whyte and Friends) and his 5th tour of Ireland.
In April 2005, Joe returned to Ireland for three gigs at the 8th annual Carlsberg Rhythm N' Roots Festival in Kilkenny, one of which was an opening spot for festival headliners and alt-country legends Son Volt, in addition to 2 sold-out shows of his own. Joe has also been invited to LA to perform at the monthly Americana Music Circle later this year, as well as to showcase at CMJ, Dewey Beach and to the MMC in Harrisburg. Joe is represented (legal) by George N. Stein, former manager and attorney for the late Jeff Buckley.
